International students are welcome at Gordonton School at all levels of the school.  We offer a positive, safe and caring environment. We value the diversity that different cultures bring to our school.

We hope your stay at our school is a happy and enjoyable one and that when you leave here you will take with you many wonderful memories of your time at Gordonton School.

As signatories to ‘The Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students,’ we ensure that our students are well informed, safe and properly cared for.

‘Gordonton School has agreed to observe and be bound by the Code of Practice for the Pastoral care of International Students published by the New Zealand Ministry of Education.'

Copies of the Code are available on the New Zealand Ministry of Education website.

Enrolment Requirements for International Students

If you are wish to enrol your child at Gordonton School, please ensure that you download, read and complete all of the documents. Please note that completion and submission of these documents does not guarantee your child a place at our school.  If you are a Designated Caregiver then you will need to have a 'Statement of Designated Caregiver' letter filled out by the parents of the child.  You can click on the link to download the International Student Enrolment Pack and Student’s Handbook.

Full details, visa and permit requirements and application forms are available through the New Zealand Immigration services.

English as a Second Language (ESOL)

Being a multi-cultural school enriches us.  There is a small number who are ESOL students. These children are privately funded, or centrally funded from the Ministry of Education.   We employ a teacher and teacher aides to assist students who come from a language background other than English in either a one-on-one basis or in a small group for as long as it is required. The students will have many opportunities to practise their speaking, listening, reading and writing in specially planned activities.

It's that time of year again! Hats, Hats, Hats!

Term 4 sees the compulsory wearing of wide brimmed hats (no caps unless they have the flap at the back) return. Our school policy is that all students and staff will wear hats when outside during Terms 1 and 4. Can you please ensure that hats are sent along to school.  Bucket hats can be purchased from the school office.
